Connect Slack

Availability

Connecting a workspace is done by an organisation owner or admin.

Connecting Slack lets anyone in your workspace ask GoPie about your data — in a direct message, by @mentioning GoPie in a channel, from the assistant pane, or with the /gopie command — and get the answer back in the thread.

Connect your workspace

You connect Slack from inside GoPie. Always use GoPie's Connect button rather than Slack's own "Install to Workspace" button — connecting from GoPie is what binds the workspace to your organisation.

  1. Open integration settings — in GoPie, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Start the Slack connection — select Connect on the Slack row.
  3. Approve the permissions — Slack shows what GoPie can do; review it and select Allow.
  4. Confirm it connected — back in GoPie, the Slack row now reads Connected, with the workspace name and who connected it.
Note

If your Slack workspace restricts which apps can be installed, a Slack workspace admin may need to approve GoPie before the connection completes. This is a Slack setting, separate from your GoPie role.

Ask GoPie in Slack

Once connected, anyone in the workspace can ask:

  • Direct message the GoPie app and type your question.
  • @mention GoPie in a channel it belongs to — add the app to the channel first so it can see the mention.
  • Open the assistant pane (Slack's Agents & AI apps view) and ask there.
  • Use /gopie followed by your question.

GoPie replies in the thread with a short answer, the table behind it, a chart where it helps, and a link to open the full result in GoPie.

The first time you ask, GoPie replies with a Link account prompt instead of an answer. This connects your Slack identity to your GoPie account so answers run with your own permissions.

  1. Select Link account — from the prompt GoPie posts on your first question.
  2. Sign in with Slack — confirm you're signed in to GoPie, then complete the Slack sign-in.
  3. Ask again — your question now returns a real answer, running as your linked GoPie user.
Tip

A fresh link can take up to a minute to take effect. If you still see the prompt right after linking, wait a moment and ask again.

You can unlink at any time from Settings → Profile → Linked chat accounts; your next question will ask you to link again.

When someone pastes a GoPie link — a dataset, dashboard, report, view or chat — into a channel or DM the app can see, it expands into a compact card showing the item's title, type, project and when it was last updated. Only linked members of your organisation see the full card; others get an invitation to connect their account.

Deliver reports to a channel

Scheduled and one-off reports can be routed to a Slack channel. See Deliver reports to channels.

Disconnect

To disconnect, return to Settings → Integrations and disconnect the Slack row. This revokes GoPie's access to the workspace and removes the connection.
