Connect Microsoft Teams

Availability

Connecting a workspace is done by an organisation owner or admin, and installing the app needs a Microsoft Teams admin.

Connecting Teams lets your team ask GoPie about your data in a personal chat or by @mentioning it in a channel or group chat, and get the answer back in the conversation.

Setting up Teams has two parts: an organisation owner or admin connects the tenant from GoPie, and a Teams administrator allows and uploads the GoPie app in the Teams admin center. The order matters.

Important

Connect in GoPie first, then install the app in Teams. GoPie recognises your tenant only after you connect it, so if the app is installed in Teams before the GoPie connection exists, GoPie ignores the install and the bot won't come online until you connect and re-add it.

Step 1 — Connect the tenant in GoPie

  1. Open integration settings — in GoPie, go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Start the Teams connection — select Connect on the Microsoft Teams row.
  3. Grant admin consent — sign in with a Microsoft administrator account and consent to GoPie for your tenant.
  4. Confirm it connected — back in GoPie, the Teams row now shows the tenant as connected.

Step 2 — Allow and upload the app in Teams

A Teams administrator does this in the Teams admin center.

  1. Allow custom app upload — go to Teams apps → Setup policies → Global and turn Upload custom apps on. It is off by default in most tenants.
  2. Allow the app org-wide — under Teams apps → Manage apps, make sure custom apps are permitted.
  3. Upload the GoPie app — under Manage apps → Upload new app, upload the GoPie Teams app package for the whole organisation (or let individual users add it with Upload a custom app).
Note

Your GoPie contact provides the Teams app package to upload. Changes to "Upload custom apps" can take up to 24 hours to take effect across a tenant.

Warning

Custom app upload is not available in some Microsoft environments (GCC High, DoD and 21Vianet), and some organisations disable it by policy. If your tenant blocks custom apps, talk to your GoPie contact about the Teams Store distribution path.

Ask GoPie in Teams

Once the app is installed, anyone in the tenant can ask:

  • Message the GoPie bot in a personal (1:1) chat.
  • @mention GoPie in a channel or group chat it belongs to.

GoPie replies in the conversation with a short answer, the table behind it, a chart where it helps, and a link to open the full result in GoPie.

Just like Slack, the first question prompts each person to link their GoPie account so answers run with their own permissions.

  1. Select Link account — from the prompt GoPie posts on your first message.
  2. Sign in — confirm your GoPie account and complete the sign-in.
  3. Ask again — your question now returns a real answer, running as your linked GoPie user.

You can unlink at any time from Settings → Profile → Linked chat accounts.

Deliver reports to a channel

Scheduled and one-off reports can be routed to a Teams channel. See Deliver reports to channels.

Disconnect

To disconnect, return to Settings → Integrations and disconnect the Microsoft Teams row.
